What is Nutri-Score?
Nutri-Score is a front-of-pack nutrition grade used in several European countries. It rates a food from A (best) to E (worst) per 100 g or 100 ml.
How the grade is calculated
Points are added for energy, sugars, saturated fat and salt, and subtracted for fibre, protein, and fruit, vegetables and legumes. The total maps to a letter. The 2023 update is stricter on sugary drinks and sweeteners.
What the letters mean
- A — best nutrition grade
- B — good
- C — average
- D — poor
- E — worst nutrition grade
What it does not tell you
Nutri-Score does not measure processing, additives, or portion size. That is why we show the separate NOVA processing level next to it.
